New Delhi: Aadhaar, the 12-digit unique biometric ID issued by the Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI), is one of the most accepted documents which is admissible throughout the country in order to verify the identification, the permanent address and various other characteristics of a person such as date of birth, mobile number, finger impressions, etc. A person is required to visit the Aadhaar enrolment centre to obtain an Aadhaar card or update the details mentioned on the already-issued Aadhaar card.
However, the current address on the Aadhaar card can be updated with the help UIDAI portal provided the user should have the mobile number active which has been mentioned on the Aadhaar card. According to UIDAI, a person can update the Aadhaar card by visiting an Aadhaar Enrolment Center. Aadhaar holders children (who have turned 15) or others in need of updating biometrics details such as fingerprints, iris and photograph are required to visit an Aadhaar enrolment centre along with the valid address proof documents, UIDAI said.
How to locate Aadhaar enrolment centre: Step-by-step guide
Step 1: Visit the UIDAI website, https://uidai.gov.in/.
Step 2: Bring the mouse cursor on ‘My Aadhaar’ and click on ‘Locate an Enrolment Centre’.
Step 3: To locate the Aadhaar enrolment centre by state, click on ‘State’.
Step 4: Enter relevant details such as state, district, sub-district village/town/city.
Step 5: You can either check ‘show only permanent centres’ or continue without checking it.
Step 6: Enter the captcha code.
Step 7: Click on ‘Locate a Centre’. The list of all Aadhaar enrolment centre in the selected area will appear.
Aadhaar enrolment centres or update centres can be located either by states, PIN code or by direct search. Aadhaar enrolment centre can also be located by entering the PIN code of your area and the captcha code. Aadhaar enrolment centre can be located selecting the search box option and entering the locality name, city, district and the captcha code.
Please note, Aadhaar enrolment centre search through the UIDAI website will only locate the approved banks and the post offices which are designated as Aadhaar enrolment/update centres by the UIDAI.
