Spam calls? How to block them on Airtel, Vodafone-Idea, Reliance Jio and other networks
Calls of telemarketers and bots are very common these days and these are getting worse day by day. During elections, we have also received automated calls from several leaders seeking vote. These sometimes jeopardise calls from our friends and family and the only option left with us is to block these calls. But how? Most people does so by blocking that particular number using their smartphone’s call blocking feature which is a legit solution. But, what if, there is a way to prevent such calls from the network provider irrespective of the network you are on be it Airtel, Idea-Vodafone, Reliance Jio or any other network.

First things first:
It is essential to know about the types of spam calls. So in general, there are three types of calls — Call from real companies looking forward to selling some of their product or services. Another one is the robotic or pre-recorded calls, and at last, there are calls which are actually spam calls in which people on the other side pretending to be a bank officer or an FBI agent looking for your personal information such as bank details, credit card PIN, etc.
Now, as per TRAI’s rule, there is a way to block such calls by activating DND services on their number. TRAI has also implemented a standard method to do this across all the network.
Method 1: Using SMS
1.Head to the ‘Messaging app’ on your phone
2.Create a new message and type START<space> 0 (all in caps)
3.Send it to 1909
Method 2: Using call
1.Open the dial of your phone
2.Dial 1909 and follow the instruction to activate the DND services.
